In reading from the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, the theme of unity between Gentile and Jewish Christians permeates chapter two. One major observation is that there are not separate truths of God’s promises communicated for Gentile and Jewish believers. Paul writes that “all of us” gratified the cravings of the sinful nature (2:3). And all of us are subject to God’s judgment (2:3b). However, because of God’s great and unconditional love (agapaĆ) for us, we are made alive in Christ because of his grace that is commended to us upon salvation. When we consider the universality of the Lord’s Supper, this text helps us to see that there is but one Supper. Regardless of our pedigree, social status, or gender, there is one Supper. And there is “one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all” (Ephesians 4:5-6, NIV). Grace and Peace, Pastor Bob
