A Noticeable Difference

In the Experiencing God Day by Day devotional, the May 21, 2008 entry helps us to understand that we don't have to try and impress anyone with our Christianity.  How often do we get caught up in a works oriented attitude where we allow pride to be our motivating factor?  This text in Acts 4:13 reveals that the disciples who were ordinary, every day men were transformed by the Holy Spirit.  There was such a noticeable change in their lives that even their enemies noticed it.  The disciples didn't have to go out and try to prove themselves, rather their changed lives produced fruits that others could see.

Henry and Richard Blackaby write, "Sometimes we desperately want others to believe that we have changed, that we are more godly, more devoted, more Spirit-controlled...[but] it is not necessary...for those who have been transformed by Christ to convince others of the difference; the change will be obvious.  If [we] have to prove to someone that God has really changed you , He has not.  Those around you will surely notice when your life has been transformed by your relationship with Jesus."

"Therefore by their fruits you will know them" (Matthew 7:20, NKJV).  Blessings, Pastor Bob
