Catching the Waves

This week our family is enjoying some vacation time with Melanie's extended family here at Surfside Beach.  It's a great time to slow down a bit and enjoy God's creation.  There's just something about the sound of the ocean, the smell of the salt air, and the taste of fresh seafood that's good for the soul!

One thing I love to do is body surf the waves.  Today we have had some real good breakers!  It makes me think of the waves as opportunities in life.  The waves keep coming.  We size them up and then catch a ride.  In life we must trust God with our opportunities and go for a ride of faith.  And when life gets rough, we hold on by faith because we know it was God who made the waves!

The summer is a good time for us to reflect on our opportunities.  What's God got in store for us... for our church this coming year and in the years to come?  I don't have all the answers but one thing I know is that God keeps sending the waves for us to ride!  Have a great week and we look forward to seeing you next Sunday.  Grace and peace, Pastor Bob

The Father's Hand

When I think of the waves at the beach, I recall my husband Roy and our son, Tyler, who was about 5 years old at the time. They were out in the waves together, holding hands, jumping the waves as they came. One wave overcame them both and knocked them down. Afterward, Tyler came to me, crying about what happened. I said "Did your father let go of your hand?" And he said "NO!" I found a teachable moment right here to say that God never lets go of our hand either. We have waves coming at us all the time. Some good, some fun, and some not so good. He's holding on to us. We need to remember to let Him pull us through it.

He will never leave us for forsake us!  Matthew 28:20 -- Thanks for this inspiring story! Bob The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you always, Pastor Bob

Beach vacation

Hope you all had a wonderful time at Surfside. The reference to riding the waves with Faith is good, we all need to reflect on how God brings us through the rough waters. Love you, Mom
