Please pray for Dr. Cecil Sherman, one of my professors in seminary. He has been diagnosed with "acute myeloid leukemia" and is being treated at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. Dr. Sherman preached at my installation service back in August 1998 as I assumed the pastorate here. During these years, Dr. Sherman has been an inspiration and source of encouragement to me as I have learned how to be a pastor. His course in seminary entitled "The Life and Work of the Pastor" was one of the courses that he taught that helped shape my ministry. Dr. Sherman was instrumental in the founding of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF) and has continued to teach at Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond, BTSR.
In addition to Dr. Sherman's health concerns, we have also learned that his beloved wife, Dot Sherman, passed away from Alzheimer's Disease on August 1. Dr. Sherman was devoted to his wife in a most incredible way. They were inseparable. In her later years, he was constantly at her side. We grieve her passing and pray for Dr. Sherman as he endures this most difficult of times. Blessings, Pastor Bob
